FOOD & FARMING

Globally, 828 million people are affected by hunger. Through our partnerships:

People have increased food security

People received training in nutrition

Vegetable gardens installed for improved food access

WHY GLOBAL HUNGER?

While a lot of progress has been made toward reducing malnutrition around the world, since 2019 the proportion of people affected by hunger has been rising each year. Political instability, climate change, and soaring prices all contribute to the current food crisis we are facing, which is most critically felt in low-income countries.  The negative effects of hunger and malnutrition go far beyond physical health. Adequate and diversified diets directly impact people’s productivity, mental health, and social capacity.

OUR RESPONSE

One Day’s Wages comes alongside grassroots partners to reduce hunger through agriculture and nutrition training, farming inputs, and vegetable gardens.  Since 2009, we have supported 31 global hunger projects in under-resourced communities, impacting more than 83,000 people.  Through our partnerships, Lena and her women’s group were not only able to consume their fresh vegetables but also had excess produce to sell to neighboring villages, and Kambale had a harvest season like nothing he’s ever seen before.
