Projects #6, 7 | Emergency Response to Flooding in Pakistan
Our partnership with World Vision and Kashf
On July 21st, 2010, Pakistan began experiencing extreme flooding due to heavy rains and monsoons, causing rivers to breach capacity and entire villages to become submerged. This natural disaster affected nearly 20 million people – more than the Haiti Earthquake and 2004 Asia Tsunami combined according to many aid organizations. This is due largely to the loss of infrastructure: homes, businesses, crops, health and education services–which will take years to rebuild. For this reason, ODW chose to partner with two organizations – Kashf and World Vision. Both these organizations already had a very substantive presence in Pakistan and continued to engage in the relief efforts.

A Story of Impact
Our partner World Vision set up various health services throughout the flood-affected areas, including primary health services, medicine, care for newborns and children suffering from malnutrition, and offering health tips and practices to the many displaced people. These health clinics were set up within IDP camps so that those displaced had quick and easy access to the services they desperately needed.
Thank you for making this possible!
Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement.
If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our global hunger fund.
