Project #70 | Emergency Relief in Iraq and Syria

Our partnership with World Vision

The Syrian conflict began four years ago and is considered one of the worst humanitarian crises in modern history. It is estimated that over 14 million people are in need of humanitarian aid, nearly half are children.

We partnered with World Vision to address the immediate needs of the displaced families and children. World Vision is already on the ground providing resources to vulnerable communities. Our partnership helped by distributing winterization kits, improving hygiene, and providing other emergency assistance. Winterization kits included items like thermal blankets, warm clothing, and solar powered lights. In addition, families and children received basic toiletries to improve sanitation within the refugee camps.

Meet Eyad

“You have no idea how hard it is for me to see my people living in tents.” —Eyad

Eyad supervises the installation of portable latrines to serve 1,200 people in northern Syria. Eyad once worked as a mechanical engineer at a car manufacturing plant in Damascus. Displaced by the conflict, he is now working for World Vision, alongside many other engineers, to provide basic water and sanitation needs for the camps and communities of northern Syria. Eyad’s greatest concern is thinking about how to bring Syrian people back to their normal lives. “I don’t feel like an employee, I feel that World Vision has given me the chance to help my people. This is what gives me hope—seeing people from all over the world caring enough to help. There is still goodness in this world.”

Thank you for making this possible!

Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement.

If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our refugee relief fund.
