PROJECT #44

Project #44 | Maternal Nutritional Support in Guatemala

Our partnership with Primers Pasos

We joined Primeros Pasos’ Nutritional Recuperation Program to support 55 children under 2 years old identified as malnourished, as well as 55 pregnant women by providing tailored medical and nutritional treatment along with practical nutrition and health classes, empowering mothers with knowledge and tools needed to maintain healthy diets for themselves and their families.

The project also included a home needs assessments to evaluate the community’s living conditions. Through a partnership between Primeros Pasos and Habitat for Humanity Guatemala (HFHG), this project provided families with “Healthy Home Kits” including water filters, clean latrines, and smokeless stoves, as needed.

Meet Dina

Dina is a mother of two children. Before she entered the Nutrition Project Women’s Group, she did not have a sufficient amount of milk for her baby until our partnership With Primrose Pasos helped to fund the women’s group. She says, “I am very happy and thankful because now my baby smiles, plays, and now he wants to walk—he is a healthy child that doesn’t have parasites due to the great hygienic care I take of my home. My baby now is 1 year and 2 months old and weighs 15 pounds.”

Thank you for making this possible!

Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement.

If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our maternal health fund.
