Project #347 | Building Community Health among Tribal People of Peren District

Communities in the remote and hilly areas of Peren District in Nagaland, India face significant barriers to accessing healthcare due to poor road connectivity, geographic isolation, and widespread poverty. Many families from tribal communities rely on subsistence farming and daily wage labor, making it difficult to afford preventive healthcare or regular medical check-ups. As a result, common conditions often go untreated. Young children, pregnant women, and the elderly are especially vulnerable.
One Day’s Wages is partnering with Pro Rural – a locally founded and led organization – to improve health outcomes in Peren District. Over two years, the project will organize mobile health camps, community-level awareness sessions, prenatal care for pregnant mothers, and transportation to health clinics for safe delivery. Working closely with village leaders, churches, and government health workers, the project will strengthen local capacity to sustain health awareness efforts beyond the life of the project.
