Project #329 | Rohingya Emergency Response

Our partnership with Partners Relief and Development

The Rohingya people are a minority in Myanmar’s Rakhine State who have been discriminated against, denied citizenship, and deprived of basic human rights for many decades due to their religion. Since 2012 there have been at least two mass forced evacuations of Rohingya from Rakhine State into neighboring Bangladesh. Over one million refugees live in camps and host communities near Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. As of September 2024, thousands of Rohingya are again being forced to flee their homes, many of whom are crossing the river into Bangladesh. There is an immediate and urgent need for food and relief.

One Day’s Wages is partnering with Partners Relief and Development to support displaced Rohingya people with food and hygiene supplies.  Through our partnership, 200 families are receiving a month’s supply of food (rice, potato, oil, spices, dried fish) as well as a hygiene kit containing soap and shampoo. The on-the-ground team is identifying new arrivals and working through relational networks to deliver aid as quickly and strategically as possible.

Thank you for making this possible!

Our movement is grassroots. The projects we support are led by local leaders, and all the funds we raise are through ordinary donors who give a day of their wages to support those experiencing extreme poverty. Will you consider giving $25, $100 or $250 to make our partnerships possible?

One Day’s Wages exists to alleviate extreme poverty by investing in, amplifying, and coming alongside locally led organizations in underserved communities.
