PROJECT #211
Project #211 | COVID-19 Relief for Vulnerable Families in India
Our partnership with Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS)
Ajmer was devastated by the onset of COVID-19, with one of the highest death rates in the region. It is a very poor area, made up largely of daily wage laborers and nomadic people from Ajmer. Much of this community lost their source of income during the Pandemic and was unable to access basic hygiene and food goods.
One Day’s Wages partnered with Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS) to provide emergency food and hygiene support to the most severely impacted families. Health & hygiene kits contained masks, hand sanitizer, and soap. Food packs containing lentils, sugar, oil, rice, and other goods which could support a family for one month. Finally, awareness activities were conducted in 10 villages with 30 people in each village. These activities included COVI-19 safety protocols, vaccination education, and instruction on the use of masks.

Meet Sukna
Sukna is a 34 year old mother of three living in a remote village who prior to the COVID-19 pandemic earned a living by making clay pots with her husband. However, the impact of the Pandemic on her community was severe. Their income selling pots was also disrupted. Sukna shared with RSKS that this loss of income meant they couldn’t put food on the table. RSKS was able to reach her family with 4 weeks of food rations, allowing Sukna and her husband to continue creating and selling their clay pots free from worrying where their next meal would come from.
Thank you for making this possible!
Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement.
If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our emergency relief fund.
