PROJECT #205

Project #205 Rapid Testing for COVID-19 in Honduras

Our partnership with Predisan Health

The community of Catacamas, Honduras was faced with multiple challenges while responding to COVID-19. As hospitals began reaching maximum capacity in urban regions of the nation, patients began setting up tents outside of the hospitals ensuring they did not miss their chance at receiving treatment. Honduras was sitting with an already unstable healthcare system and due to the increased influx patients seeking care for COVID-19, they were unable to provide medical treatment equitably throughout the nations more rural regions. One Day’s Wages partnership with Predisan Health increased the reach and response towards the complications that COVID-19 brought to surface. 52 employees of the hospital were provided with PPE equipment, all of whom survived. In addition, 586 individuals received direct assistance and COVID-19 rapid testing.

Meet Aury

Aury works as a nurse for Predisan Health, taking agency towards stopping the spread of the pandemic in her community. Amidst her time working at the hospital, Aury contracted COVID-19 during a time in which hospital beds were at maximum capacity. Thankfully through our partnership, she received provision of critical health services through our partnership with Predisan Health at the General Hospital San Francisco (GHSF).  She was able to seek two weeks of medical treatment, lab tests, a chest x-ray to assess any temporal changes in her lungs and enough COVID-19 rapid tests for her entire family to be tested.

Thank you for making this possible!

Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement.

If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our emergency relief fund.
