PROJECT #40

Project #40 | Economic Empowerment for Widows in Uganda

Our partnership with United African Orphans and Widows Foundation

This project will focus on women’s empowerment using a two-pronged, sustainable approach. The 30 women will receive the training and tools necessary to build small-businesses that will continue to help the community grow and flourish in the years to come. Additionally, the young women in the community will for the first time be able to purchase low-cost, reusable, locally produced sanitary products that will allow them to remain actively engaged in their education. This will be reinforced by the introduction of sanitation training and sex education in the pilot school classrooms, which will further enhance the long-term sustainability of the program’s goals even after the official project has ended.

Thank you for making this possible!

Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement.

If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our girls’ empowerment fund.
