Project #10 | Construction of a Clean Water Tank in Kenya
Our partnership with Common Ground Project
ODW’s partnership with Common Ground helped build a water tank that stores over 100,000 liters of water. The project activities involved procurement of materials (bricks, sand, cement, rebar, and a cutter) and construction. Members of the community were involved in the construction of the water project by providing labor. CGP provided the builders with meals at the time of contribution. The water tank provides many new advantages to improve the health and well being of the students. Most importantly, the water tank provides the ability for students to take water home to their families at the end of the day, ensuring the health and well being of the students and their families, even when they are not at school.
Our collective impact
Meet Pathfinder Academy
This new water tank is located close to a school in western Kenya. These students now have:
- Ability to store water so the students won’t have to worry about collecting water everyday
- Accessibility to clean water which will reduce absenteeism
- Availability of hand washing taps with soap/ash on the storage tanks for sanitation
Thank you for making this possible!
Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement. Special thanks to [insert name if available].
If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our water & sanitation fund.
