Not Your Average Gala 2016

by | Oct 26, 2016

Can we just say “wow”? Our 7th Annual Gala proved to be our best yet, raising over $135,000!!! We couldn’t have done it without our dedicated and very enthusiastic Northwest community, not to mention everyone who gave online! Thank you!!!

The Gala is the one time of year we actively fundraise for our operations, enabling us to continue giving 100% of your donations the rest of the year straight to projects on the ground. If you weren’t able to attend, but would still like to support our operations, you can donate at www.onedayswages.org/gala.

The Gala Photo Booth is always an event favorite, so of course we had to have one this year. Guests had fun with the many fine props and accessories. Too see all the photos visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.org/onedayswages.

From vacations in Hood Canal and Treehouse Point, to a meet & greet with NBA basketball player Jeremy Lin…the Gala this year definitely had the best auction yet! Pretty sure we wow’d our guests…

The Gala had it’s first ever dessert auction, where guests were challenged to join their tables and bid on some pretty incredible desserts. The winners then had to run to the dessert table to try and get their first choice of treats. There were clear favorites…

And some not so much…

We were really excited to invite our friends at World Concern and World Relief to join us for the Gala this year. Both had interactive booths where they showcased how we are working together in Syria, Myanmar, and the Congo. They also helped guests write encouraging letters to refugees from Syria, and even brought Virtual Reality (VR) goggles so our guests could experience some of the communities where our work has made an impact.

Our honorees of the evening were Jason and Jinny Koh–these two have been incredible supporters over the years, and own one of the best sushi restaurants in town…Japonessa Sushi Cochina.

And we were again blown away by our founder, Eugene Cho, and his passionate presentation about our recent work. Our 7th gala celebrated a very busy year for ODW. We hit the 100 projects mark this year, and granted over $400,000 in 2016, empowering communities with clean water, education, jobs, and much more. To see our “100 Projects” video that we shared at the Gala, visit this link.

All in all we were humbled by our community’s support of the Gala and our work this year, and we’re honored to be partnering with all of you!

If you couldn’t make it this year, there’s always next year! XOXO – The ODW Team
