5 Free Ways To Support Nonprofits
Nonprofits not only run off of donations, we work better when everyone can contribute to the cause. Here are five ways that you can give without having to spend a dime.
1. SPREAD THE WORD
The simplest way to support us is to amplify our cause! This could be sending an email to your friends, family, and coworkers, or forwarding one of our emails. We also have a great Instagram and Facebook with posts you can reshare, and recently started a TikTok, you can interact with here. The more people that know about our grassroots movement, the more impact we’ll make.
2. FUNDRAISE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Starting a fundraiser is a way to go beyond number one and engage your community even more. We’ve had people donate their weddings, birthdays, and baby showers, asking for donations in place of gifts. Runners and bikers have raised money through their own races around the country. Even an artist got involved by creating dog portraits for each person that donated! The possibilities are endless.
3. SHOP & SUPPORT AT 60+ STORES
The non-profit organization Shop & Support makes it easy for you to do just that: support us as you shop, online and in stores, at no cost to you. By securely linking your credit card to their platform, we’ll get up to 20% of your purchase in a donation from that business. Your information stays secure as you shop without even having to think about donating! Businesses that participate in this give-back program include Lowe’s, Walgreens, PetSmart, Panera, The Container Store, and many more.
4. IF YOU NEED TO SHOP ON AMAZON, DO IT ON AMAZON SMILE
We’ve gotten used to having instant Amazon packages at our door, but we don’t know the labor practices of each product on the site, let alone each warehouse. So, we’d first encourage you to look at locally owned stores. Sometimes we do really need that item the next day, so if you have to shop on Amazon, utilize Amazon Smile to give back. You can choose any non-profit to support with each purchase. Just make sure you’re on smile.amazon.com for your purchases to count.
5. VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME
This one is last because of course your time isn’t free, it is a cost to you. But if you do have extra time, a great way to use it is to volunteer! At One Day’s Wages, we always appreciate when folks reach out to us and want to get involved, especially if they have a cool talent they want to share with us. RAIN for the Sahel and Sahara
I’ve been trying to grow vegetables in a small household garden for nearly 15 years now, and you’d think that I’d be much better at gardening than I am at this point. Some years I have greater success than others, but most of the time I manage to eke out at least a...
