WHY UKRAINE?

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has forced over 4 million people to flee Ukraine and many more are displaced within the country while seeking safety. Many refugees now are being hosted in Poland, Hungary, and other European countries. While ODW typically only works in countries in Tiers 3 or 4 of the United Nations Human Development Index, we are expanding our efforts to support the people of Ukraine during this extremely dangerous time. While Ukraine currently, and rightly, has captured our attention, our global neighbors in Afghanistan, Tigray in Ethiopia, and South Sudan are also fleeing conflict and violence. One Day’s Wages’ Emergency Relief fund is ongoing and able to quickly and appropriately respond to the many crises around the world.

WHAT WE’RE DOING

We are actively vetting partnerships in response to the unfolding crisis in Ukraine. Our promise to you is that we will make informed decisions about where to invest grant funding so that you know your money is going to trusted, local relief. One Day’s Wages has pledged $250,000 for emergency relief in Ukraine. Our goal is to raise $500,000 over the next two months for relief efforts in Ukraine and for emergent crises around the world. We will take our lead from organizations responding on the ground as they know best regarding how to meet their growing needs. As always, we are committed to reporting back to you with transparency and integrity.
