PROJECT #86
Project #86 | Pursuing Justice for Girls in India
Our partnership with Freedom Firm
Through this partnership with Freedom Firm, we helped rescue 31 girls from India’s sex industry. First, the rescue team worked undercover in India’s red-light districts to identify minor girls and coordinated with local law enforcement to rescue them. Once safely removed from their their captors, social workers provided aftercare support, which included counseling, medical care, job training, education, and employment opportunities with Freedom Firm’s Ruhamah Designs.
Freedom Firm also works to also bring justice against perpetrators. They believe that when traffickers are imprisoned for their crimes, it sends a message to all those engaged in similar practices, creating a deterrent to further trafficking. Although the legal team faces many challenges overcoming the corruption and obstacles of India’s legal system, Freedom Firm is determined to create systemic change to end sex trafficking in India.

Meet Reema
Reema was rescued in a raid conducted by Freedom Firm investigators and local police in Nagpur in 2014. Despite the fact that her relatives and several brothel keepers were present, she courageously testified that she was forced to prostitute and pointed out to the court the lady who was her brothel keeper. Through the proceedings, Freedom Firm staff and the police ensured that her relatives had no chance to interact with her. We are extremely proud of Reema and hope that the brothel keeper will be convicted for her involvement in this case. The case has now come to its last argument, and the final judgement will be pronounced as early as possible. We are extremely proud of Reema and hope that her brothel keeper will be convicted for her involvement. Reema’s testimony has empowered other girls like her and is sure to create a deterrent to future trafficking of minors in the region.
Thank you for making this possible!
Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement.
If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our human trafficking fund.
