Meet Tina

Tina was trafficked to Bangkok from her home in Uganda with the promise of being a hair dresser there. She thought she would work for a salon doing braiding and extensions for tourists. She learned upon arrival that she would work in prostitution. She had been away from home 3 years when we met her. Tina was referred to us by a friend and roommate; her roommate called us to ask if we could meet with her friend and help her. When we met Tina and she came to the Transition House, Tina was experiencing a psychotic episode. She was hearing voices and struggled with a lot of anxiety. She stayed with us four months and during that time received much needed medical and psychological care. Tina experienced an immense amount of healing while she was with us and returned home to Uganda with a renewed spirit and hope for a bright future. While in care Tina received additional training as a beautician and returned home with the new skill of being able to cut Caucasian hair, so that she can provide for her two sons.
