Project #27 | Safe Home for Trafficked Girls in the Philippines
Our partnership with Love146
ODW partnered with Love146 through a matching grant to fund the next two years of education and vocational training elements of the Round Home aftercare program in the Philippines. The Round Home is a safe home for formerly sexually exploited/trafficked girls. Every year, girls will go through this aftercare program where they will be treated, cared for, and empowered to have a brighter future. The Round Home program is committed to facilitating ways and means to promote the children’s productiveness, empowerment, and realization of their potentials. It also serves as a protection from re-experiencing abuse and exploitation. ODW helped fund the Round Home’s Health and Hygiene Initiative. The Round Home supplied survivors with regular physical examinations, medication, and basic hygiene needs like clean water and toiletries. The aftercare provided hope to bring about the full restoration and protection of the dignity, integrity, and sense of worth of every girl in the Round Home.

Meet Amanda
Amanda’s past of exploitation began at age eight… trafficked through various cities, sold on the streets and on the internet, she was rescued at age 14. Amanda was moved from institution to institution, each time leaving and returning to work in the bar because they didn’t send her to school. Rescued again, she came into Love146’s care. We lost no time putting Amanda in a home study program that would allow her to learn her own pace. At age 17, she began at a fourth grade level. After just one year, she passed exams that allowed her to skip high school and go on to college. During college, we supported Amanda with private tutoring. Just last month, Amanda finished courses and passed qualifying exams to become a professional caregiver; able to work in hospitals, schools and other facilities with children, adults, and the elderly. How many times does a girl need to be rescued before she can be free? For Amanda, the answer was until she was give access to education.
Thank you for making this possible!
Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement.
If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our anti-human trafficking fund.
