EMPOWERING WIDOWED FARMERS THROUGH REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

ODW + BERINE & BOKWE FOUNDATION

The Need

Cameroon has made great strides to reduce extreme poverty, but is currently facing several complex crises including armed conflict and widespread climate shocks.  Especially for the 62% of people in Cameroon who subsist on agriculture, these crises are negatively impacting livelihoods and food security. Vulnerable families in the Southwest Region are now facing crisis levels of food insecurity.

The Partnership

We believe local leaders are the ones who best understand their communities’ needs and the solutions that will help them thrive. For this reason, ODW strategically partners with locally-led organizations like the Berine and Bokwe Foundation: a nonprofit founded by a Cameroonian woman who decided to invest in other widows after her husband passed away.  Our partnership will equip 100 widowed women farmers with:

  • Skills to adapt their farming methods to a changing climate;
  • Seeds, shared farming tools and micro-loans; and
  • Food aid during the training period to support their ability to participate.

The Invitation

We need your help to raise $10,755 to provide long-term access to adequate food and income for 100 vulnerable women. When you contribute your best gift, 100% of your donation (minus transaction fees) goes directly to the Berine and Bokwe Foundation as they work to implement these life-changing initiatives.
