Project #342 | Afghanistan Earthquake Emergency Response

Our partnership with Action for Development

On August 31, 2025, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake devastated thousands of homes in eastern Afghanistan. Over 2,200 people lost their lives. The remote, mountainous terrain limited emergency aid in a region already facing inadequate healthcare and infrastructure. The risk of respiratory illness and diarrheal disease was imminent as people crowded into temporary shelters.

One Day’s Wages’ trusted partner, Action for Development, quickly mobilized a mobile health team of Afghan medical professionals to reach earthquake-affected communities in Kunar Province. The team includes a doctor, midwife, pharmacist, psychosocial counselor, and nurses who offered emergency wound care and psycho-social support to over 1,400 women, men, and children. With winter quickly encroaching, the team also distributed warm winter clothing, blankets, and emergency food packages to 280 families. Appropriate medical care and supplies helped prevent the spread of disease during a period of extreme vulnerability.

Thank you for making this possible!

Our movement is grassroots. The projects we support are led by local leaders, and all the funds we raise are through ordinary donors who give a day of their wages to support those experiencing extreme poverty. Will you consider giving $25, $100 or $250 to make our partnerships possible?

One Day’s Wages exists to alleviate extreme poverty by investing in, amplifying, and coming alongside locally led organizations in underserved communities.
