Our partnership with Remember Niger Coalition

Niger consistently ranks among the poorest and least developed nations in the world. There are significant financial and cultural barriers to accessing education for girls in Niger, especially middle school education. Overall in Niger, only 35% of women are literate. Less than 25% of girls, 15-24 years old are literate (UNICEF). In addition to creating access to education for girls, Remember Niger works with its partners to keep girls in school to reduce school dropout rates and early marriage. Once enrolled in Remember Niger’s Girls Scholarship Program, funding will provide for school fees, books, uniforms, meals, and tutoring/mentoring. 

One Day’s Wages partnered with Remember Niger Coalition to provide scholarships to girls to attend middle school in cities and villages throughout the country. Remember Niger’s Girls’ Scholarship Program provides critical access to education to girls in Niger in order to move them out of poverty and oppression. The program creates opportunities that encourage girls to enroll in schools while also demonstrating the value of girls’ education to their parents and communities.
