ODW + ZOE EMPOWERS

One Day’s Wages is partnering with Zoe Empowers to equip orphans and vulnerable children in Malawi with tools and training to overcome life threatening poverty and become fully self-sufficient.

WHY MALAWI?

Many believe the greatest humanitarian crisis of our age is the 200 million orphans living and dying in extreme poverty globally. Malawi is one of the world’s most economically challenged countries with half the population living below the poverty line, 25% living in extreme poverty, and 37% of children under age five experiencing growth stunting due to malnutrition.  Orphaned children are especially vulnerable to extreme poverty, food insecurity and exploitation.

ODW + ZOE EMPOWERS

One Day’s Wages is partnering with Zoe Empowers to support orphaned and vulnerable Malawian youth who are heads of household and financially responsible for their younger siblings.  During this third year of our partnership, the youth (ages 12-20) will continue to participate in empowerment groups that offer access to savings and loans, and will secure a steady source of income through a small business or income-generating activity.  Children will graduate from the program with diverse streams of revenue to support their families, financial independence, and lasting bonds with a supportive group of peers.
