PROJECT #46

Project #46 | Agricultural Training for Marginalized Women in Rwanda

Our partnership with Rwanda Village Concept Project

ODW came alongside RVCP to establish 30 agricultural cooperatives in the rural district of Huye, Rwanda, that provided 150 women with irrigated marshland and agricultural training to maintain their plots of land. These women are ages 15-25 who were forced to drop out of school due to poverty. As a result, many of these women are sex workers, some are HIV positive, single mothers, or are vulnerable to any of these because of economic and social disadvantages. These cooperatives provide a number of different advantages for these women and their communities such as: Access to irrigated marshland, agricultural training from two agronomists, seeds and tools, and network to agricultural markets and institutions to ensure profitability and promote long-term income.

Thank you for making this possible!

Our movement is grassroots, to us that not only means the work on the ground is led by local leaders with the support of the community, but it also means that we raise the funds for our projects through everyday donors just like you. In addition to all the donors that gave $25, $100, or $250 and the campaigners that ran a race or donated their birthday to raise funds, we also want to thank our generous business, school, and faith sponsors who believed in our work and joined the movement.

If you want to support future projects like this you can make a donation to our jobs & skills fund.
